You can delete your BareLedger account yourself, on the web or in the mobile app. Deletion happens straight away and can't be undone.

What gets deleted

  • Your sign-in: your password, single sign-on links, two-factor setup and backup codes. Every device and API key you used is signed out at once.
  • Your personal details and settings: profile picture, signature, phone number, job title, notification preferences, notifications, push-enabled devices, assistant chats and your sign-in history.
  • Your email address is released: the account no longer uses it, so you can sign up again with the same address later — as a brand-new account with no organizations.

What is kept

Organizations you worked in keep their accounting records, as the law requires — including your name on the entries you prepared, reviewed or approved, and in their audit trail. Leads you owned and tasks assigned to you stay with the organization, unassigned, so someone else can pick them up.

What happens to each organization

Before you confirm, the delete screen lists every organization you belong to and what will happen to it:

  • You leave it — someone else owns it. Your membership ends; its records keep your name.
  • Closed — you are its only member — nobody else works there, so the organization is closed: no one can open it any more, its records are kept, and a paid plan is cancelled at the end of the period already paid for.
  • Transfer ownership first — you own it and other people still work there. Make one of them the owner before deleting: go to People, click the crown icon on their row in the Directory and choose Transfer ownership. You keep Administrator access, so the organization then shows You leave it and you can come back and delete your account.

Deleting on the web

  1. Open your profile → Security & authentication → Delete account…. If you don't belong to any organization, use Delete my account at the bottom of the organization chooser instead.
  2. Read what happens to each organization.
  3. Confirm it's you: enter your password (if your account has one), then either a code from your authenticator app (or one of your backup codes) if you've turned on two-factor authentication, or — if you haven't — click Send code and enter the 6-digit code emailed to you.
  4. Type DELETE, click Delete account, and confirm.

You're signed out, and the sign-in page says "Your account has been deleted." A confirmation is emailed to your address.

Deleting in the mobile app

Tap Profile → Delete account (or Delete my account on the organization chooser) and follow the same steps. When it's done, the app returns to the sign-in screen with the same message.

Common mix-ups

  • Leaving just one organization: deleting your account removes you from all of them. To leave only one, ask an administrator there to suspend you from the People page.
  • Getting the account back: not possible — deletion is immediate. You can sign up again with the same email, but it starts empty and you'll need to be invited back into your organizations.
  • The emailed code doesn't work: codes expire after 10 minutes and stop working after 5 wrong tries — click Resend code for a fresh one. An authenticator code works only once and changes every 30 seconds, so wait for the next one if it's refused.
  • Platform administrator accounts can't be deleted from here; another administrator removes them from the console.
